Guild Advancement System With Cataclysm
Since BlizzCon’s event way back in 2009 where they had introduced a new expansion of the Cataclysm, many had started to anticipate for this last possible update. Blizzard had slowly drop some tidbits of information as to what a player can surely get when the patch comes in. One of data they had shared was their new Guild Advancement System.

World of Warcraft guilds can now level up like the usual leveling characters. There will be 20 levels for guild progression. The guild’s experience will be gained based from the performance of its top 20 players. These players are mostly the active ones with higher level caps. Such guild experience will be gained based on raid bosses killing, PvP arena victories, PvP battlegrounds victories, profession levels and skills. Much more the Guild XP can even be converted into a currency that in return you can use to buy some guild items. This can then be shared to other members like raid materials and the like.
Though the rules of gaining Guild XP has not been laid out, but still the development is taking place thus there could be more rooms for changes. What we currently have right now is that when you participate on a boss kill and in some battlegrounds activities it can count as a guild experience. But do take note that it must consist of 75% of the party is from the same guild. Much more individual’s advancement like reputation and profession will count from a number of players and not from the guild itself. This kind of specification will cater smaller guilds to compete with the larger ones if they have sufficient number of active members.
Guilds will be awarded one guild talent point as it progresses from one level to the other. This can then be used as a guild wide talent for its members. However, as of the moment there is not much information in line with this one. Nonetheless, with this new system it can provide convenience to its guild members rather than with an individual player. Possible examples include mass resurrection after a wipe, reduced cost on possible repairs and raid wide buffs.
There would also be guild achievements that will be similar to the player’s achievement but will be granted to the whole guild members. Such will be awarded right after clearing a raid instance, having a member with the highest profession level cap and much more.
These are just some of the items guild leaders and members will surely anticipate when Cataclysm is here. Nonetheless, this time the expansion will give due importance to the guild itself and not only on individual achievement and the like. Thus, better inform your fellow guild players about this wonderful information so everyone can contribute to the guild’s betterment.
