World of Warcraft Rogues

Rogues can be one of the easiest classes to level in the World of Warcraft.  They have stealth abilities and a slightly more doughty build.  Their ability for stealth makes it easier for rogue characters to avoid trouble that other characters can get into, and they’re a good pick for first time players.

Rogues are great at dealing out damage, but unlike warriors that can wear heavier armour, and paladins that can heal themselves, rogues aren’t the best for head-to-head confrontations with vast, tough  mobs.  They’re a bit more fragile than other classes.

So know the class limitations – don’t use a Rogue to fight mobs, but use them against single targets where they are very effective..  Your character needs to deal out damage rapidly, before taking too many hard hits, and the right specs, weapons and armour can go a long way to helping a rogue survive.

Rogues can wear leather armor.  After they’ve advanced a number of levels they can also consider chain mail, but when deciding whether or not to go for a piece of armor, the amount of damage that the armor will keep off is only one of the things to consider. You should also look at how it will influence increasing your crit rating, agility, and stamina.

Apart from the armour, choosing the correct weapons is pretty important. For example, if you’re using daggers as a combat rogue, then you’re wasting your time – they’re terrible for combat.  Pick up sword specialization as soon as possible, and get one that’s fast and does higher damage.  A dagger in your offhand is OK.

A Combat Rogue is the best path to go down for talent,  because of the consistently high damage you can met out.  Make sure you include Dual Wield Specialization, Precision, Vitality, Blade Furry, Adrenaline Rush and Murder Spree ! As mentioned earlier, it can be relatively hard for a rogue to survive – he can’t heal himself like a Paladin, and he’s not a warrior, so your Rogue needs to take as much advantage as possible from his special survival abilities which include Vanish, Blind, and Evasion.

Some Tips

  1. If you’re in a group, be careful that other players don’t set  their character to follow you when you’re sneaking up on opponents ( also remember your Vanish button ).
  2. Find a good rogue leveling guide on the net and really use it the first time you level a Rogue.  There’s no point in wasting time grinding on things that others have already sorted out.
  3. Remember to be sneaky ! It’s a part of a Rogue’s gameplay strategy and can be a great help in getting through a lot  of quests quickly. Use stealth to get to the boss of a camp without fighting all the way there.
  4. As a rogue it’s a good thing to pick up skinning as a profession, and perhaps then become a Master of Anatomy. To make money, learn enchanting so that after you sneak up and kill a boss, you can disenchant the stuff they drop.

Dwarf and Human Rogues in World of Warcraft

I like playing Rogues and this is why : they can keep off piles of trouble that other World of Warcraft classes get into by being stealthy, using class abilities like vanish, blind and evasion.  You use your Rogue talents and stalk up on bosses while avoiding their men, and I find that they can be one of the easiest classes to take up through the levels, and so are a good choice for new people playing World of Warcraft.

That said, there are a few things that you need to be mindful of when your character is a Rogue .  They aren’t allowed to wear heavy armour, and although they are quite sturdy, they don’t have any healing powers.  So you’ll find that while they’re pretty convenient one-on one, if you take them into pitched battle against a group, it’s a lot more dangerous that for Warriors, Paladins etc.  You can straightaway get a lot of damage and get taken out.

You start some Rogue training as soon as you can, but how do you do this ?    If you’re new to playing World of Warcraft, then one of the first things to learn is where to find a class trainer.  These are game-animated characters ( rather than real people playing the game ) and you pay them a fee to train you up.

As I’ve mostly played Dwarves and Humans, I can list where for find Rogue trainers for these  .

If you’re a Human, you’ll start off in Northshire Abbey in Elwynn Forest.  Look for Jorrik Kerridan.  You can also find Keryn Sylvius at the Lion’s Pride Inn in Goldshire.  To get to Goldshire, go South on the road that heads into the center of Elwynn Forest .  Then if you travel to Stormwind, in the Old Town there’s also Lord Tony Romano and Osborne the Night Man.

If you’re a Dwarf in Dun Morogh, there’s Solm Hargrim in your home-ground of Coldridge Valley.  When you travel further affield you can find Horgal Bakkan at the Thunderbrew Distillery.  When you make it to Ironforge, look for Fenthwick, Ormyr Flinteye and Hulfdan Blackbeard in the Forlorn Cavern.

Two tips 1) When your training as a Rogue – go for a combat Rogue – they’re good at dealing out a lot of damage pretty consistently which will help you survive.  And get a good, fast sword and specialize in it.

2) Playing with an in-game rogue leveling guide can be a great time-saver if you’re keen to get out and explore a bit more safely. There are reviews of some here: http://questcatcher.com

WoW Rogue Guide

Dealing damage is the clear purpose of Rogue in WoW. The melee class Rogues have several great damage abilities whereby they can make sushi out of their opponents, no matter if it is PvP or PvE. Various types of one-handed weapons can be Dual Wielded by Rogues in WoW. With the use of Energy, they can also use their special abilities. Some of these special abilities are helpful in applying a combo point on one’s own target. The effective finishing moves depend on the applications of the combo points on the target on the part of the Rogue. Once the finishing move is used, optimum five combo points on the target get disappeared.

The Rogues are popular for not only for their great damage dealing ability, but also for attacking from behind for their backstabbing capability. Stealing around in battleground and arenas, they creep up behind their enemies, and defeat them. Inasmuch as PvE is considered, stealing seems handy as the sap ability helps you when there are Humanoid mobs where you can keep them away from the combat almost for a minute. Apart from this, you can blind the enemy for twelve seconds by leaving him helpless to do nothing.

Rogues also have some stunning and disrupting abilities which makes them great for both PvE and PvP purposes. Some good Rogues are able to stunlock enemy NPC’s or players, which basically means that they can hardly move, cast or attack.

Using some poisons on their weapons, Rogues are capable of either boosting their damage or putting some other debuff on a target.
Rogues have the following races in their ranks such as Blood Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Gnomes, Orcs, Trolls, and Undead.

A Rogue may prefer to combine either one of the talent trees or he has the choice of specialization in Assassination, Subtlety build, or Combat. All the trees contribute to increase the Rogue’s damage output as his main purpose is not healing or tanking, and they can be rather weak spots of the Rogue. Thence, the player has to decide on choosing the best talent tree on his part. Due to the pros and cons of each tree, there are different choices for the players and so the debate may prolong, but the important thing is that everyone has his own choice.

This build probably works best at 80 when you have some steady weapons at your hand as the Assassination tree usually proves helpful for leveling and focusing on the crit rate and poison aspects of the Rogue as well as the combat build offers a chance of specialization in a particular type of weapon for the Rogue.

The Subtlety build aims at Stealth, crowd control, and Survivability aspects of the Rogue. This build is the first choice of many PvP Rogues since it gives the Rogue some burst damage.
