Shamans are one of the few hybrid classes in World of Warcraft. For Shammys this means that they could either spec to be healers – restoration tree, casters – elemental tree or melee dpsers – enhancement tree. No matter which spec you choose, one could surely say Shamans are loads of fun to level up and play.

Leatherworking and Skinning

These two professions are easy and useful in leveling and so they are the first choice of a Shaman. It is because Shamans are able to make nice gear pieces for themselves as mail wearers by leveling up with Leatherworking irrespective of being spec. To make more profit, Shaman Leatherworkers can make craft mail gear pieces for Hunters and leather gear pieces for Rogues and Druids. Since they are casters/healers they usually stay behind and get no damage so the armor bonus of mail gear pieces doesn’t matter much to them. Nevertheless it is always advisable to wear the highest gear you can and there is definitely nice mail gear that could be also crafted with Leatherworking for these two specs. Alchemy and Herbalism are two professions that can always come in handy for every class, not to mention that they are quite easy to be leveled, plus a bonus buff called Life Blood which will heal you for 2000 over 5 seconds. Inscription together with Herbalism could be also nice for a Shaman since the Glyphs he/she could make could be very useful and there are a lot of different glyphs differing on the spec you have and totems and spells you are using. Engineering and Mining could also be fun since you will be able to craft some armor pieces for yourself and other useful gadgets.

Shaman Leveling Build

Using only Enhancement tree is necessary. You are advised to go down the tree at your earliest and later on get back in order to fill in the other points.

First you should start with Ancestral Knowledge to increase your Intellect. Then choose Improved Ghost Wolf straight away to make it instant cast. It will save you from tricky situation and save you time in general. Put three points in Thundering Strike and then go down to Shamanistic Focus. Put two more points in Thundering Strikes and two points in Improved Shields. Now put five points in Flurry. Take Spirit Weapons and Mental Dexterity and then put another point in Improved Shields. Always keep your Lightning Shield up so you deal a lot of damage with it. It doesn’t cost mana nowadays so it’s great.

Then add two points in Unleashed Rage and three points in Weapon Mastery. If you go serially like choosing Dual Wield, Storm Strike and finally Dual Wield Specialization, you need not to miss all the time. Storm Strike can be improved by taking Lava Lash.

Take Shamanistic Rage which is great to restore some mana and Mental Quickness to improve your spell damage and reduce the cost of your Shocks and instant heals. Put five points in Maelstrom so you can actually make those instant heals, which is very nice. And finally.. Feral Spirit, you gotta love these doggies. These little puppies heal you every time they do damage, they have the ability to stun enemies, are extremely fast and they also have a taunt sort of thing. You can control the Wolves and use their abilities how you please. Together with your Elementals, Heroism, Totems etc you will have a hard time not to pawn any class if all your cooldowns are ready.

Having the Feral Spirit, you need to look at the talent tree just to choose the talents you like and fill in first. Finally, your talent tree should match with mine.
