It has been noted that World of Warcraft is definitely a game worth beholding. As such it is no denial that millions of players have embraced the game and adapted it. Gear score is a tool that is used to immediately scan the player in order to determine if a player is good enough to be accepted in a group, raid or even a team. As such long before when this was not yet available, in order for you to identify if a character is pretty loaded, you tend to ask him or her questions. But this time, you can no longer resort to such. You can simply do this manually by looking at their gears.

This kind of device is particularly useful in order to identify and double check if the player is lying to you or not. As such since you can their gears, you can in fact verify if this character will be of value to your team most especially if we are talking raids here. Aside from knowing their gears, you can even check their statistics and even abilities. However, in spite of such positivity and usefulness of such this can present a problem. Some raid leaders are now setting the bar too high and leave the mid players out. There is no more helping of a player to get a gear because a player is an asset. Instead it is the statistics that is now considering for approval. In this case, some players resort to run older content as fast as they can in order to farm emblems quickly. There are many cases as well that some groups tend to reject new players that might need gear from such content.

Another controversy that arises with regards to the gear score addon is that the gear scores can be inflated by simply using gear with higher stats. Some don’t even know that by having such equipment is inappropriate and might prove harmful to the class. One instance of which is the utilization of spell power armor by some classes that are heavy on physical DPS so as to amplify their gear score. Another example is the wearing of some higher level PvP gears in which it might not be meaningful if we are to consider PvE.

As such it is extremely important that though these gear score addons can aid us in a way or another, these must not dictate how we select a player for our group. In fact, more than the gears we must look at the skills and the flexibility of a player in order to meet the group’s objectives. Asking questions would still be the best way to note if a player is indeed good or not. As stated a good set of gears and higher scores do not define the skill of a player on a particular situation.
